Scenario Background

This scenario takes at the end of Europe’s Middle Ages. The setting is relatively historical but with a fantasy twist, which will cause historical figures and nations to react differently than reported in textbooks. The year is 1462, the 4th year of the reign of King Matthias Corvinus in Hungary, and the last for the reign of Prince Vlad Tepes, better known as Dracula. The Dracula who reigned in Wallachia is an entirely different figure from the Dracula we know from Hollywood. One thing they have in common is their brutality. Dracula ruthlessly rules his Principality and tolerates no dissention. His methods for dealing with disloyal boyars (Romanian nobles), criminals, and enemy armies earned him the nickname of Vlad the Impaler. Dracula itself translates into “son of the dragon” or “son of the devil”. His father had been a member of the Order of the Dragon, which was a group of Crusaders, devoted to fighting the Turks. Many historical legends account for his strict moral code imposed upon his people and the lack of illegal activities under the reach of his authority. He is a man to be feared, and commands much .
