== Description ==

The Holy Roman Empire was the political entity that originated at the coronation as emperor of German king Otto I in 962. It was the successor state to the empire founded in 800 by Charlemagne who claimed legitimate succession to the Roman Empire.

After the death of Charlemagne, his successors were weak and incapable of supporting their large empire. When Charles "The Fat" died, the Empire disappeared until the crowning of Otto I of Saxony. In this world, between the Rhine and the Elba rivers, that is to say, between the Latin and Slav worlds, the disintegration of Charlemagne's Empire created four Duchies: Saxony, Franconia, Swabia and Bavaria. The members of these German families tried to get for themselves the Emperor´s throne, fighting against the Pope, Italian lords, Franks, Magyars, Slavs and themselves. You have to be one of these families and try to develop and empower your lands to be the greatest Emperor, "The Emperor of the last times" who waits on the mountain of Kyffhäuser for the time when he will come to lead the German people.
