Description
In 386 BC the Persian empire is still the most feared power in the Eastern Mediterranean despite its defeat in Hellas. But it has to fight many internal problems: disorders and revolts. Thus the Egyptians are able to free their lands from the Persians. The hegemonial power in Hellas is Sparta. Athens is also becoming stronger again and tries to re-establish its naval power, but the golden age of the free Poleis is over. In Northern Greece a new opponent appears: Macedonia. In the Western Mediterranean, Carthage expands its trade empire and increasingly comes into conflict with the Greek cities of Sicily, especially Syracuse. By contrast, Rome's sphere of influence still ends shortly beyond its own city walls. So the Romans set out to conquer Italy...
