Pacific Island v1.3
A scenario for Civilization II: Fantastic Worlds by Javier Arriaga.
Description
This is the story of the American troops disembarking in a Pacific island military occupied by the Japanese. The island is completely fictitious, but it could be called Tarawa, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima... During the whole war, American troops disembarked in many islands like this.
When Douglas McArthur fled from Corregidor, the main US Base of the Philippines, he promised to return. When the North Americans braked the Japanese advance in the Coral Sea and stopped it definitively in Midway, the moment of complying the promise arrived.
He began to re-conquer the territory lost by the allies after the attack to Pearl Harbour with a system that revealed effective but very hard: to jump from each island to the next one. This way, the people knew names of islands that nobody had never heard... and they associated them to blood and death. Tarawa, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima... a whole generation would never forget it.
August, 1943. The days of Pearl Harbour have passed. Now, after the Battle of Midway, the initiative belongs to the American side. You have been commissioned by General Douglas McArthur and Admiral Chester W. Nimitz to invade an island that has been occupied by the Japanese. You have to take control of a great Task Force combining troops of the US Navy, US Navy Air Forces and US Marine Corps. Can you take the island and inflict serious damage to Japanese Fleet? Or, playing with the Japanese, can you stop the enemy advance in this front and become admired by the whole empire?
