Description

"The Cold War is long over. The Gulf War is yesterday's news. Welcome to the end of the 20th century."

The New World Order conceived after the Cold War envisaged "a new era full of promise based on international law, justice and peace." The United Nations, no longer constrained by an automatic Russian veto, could seriously undertake its peace-keeping role, and the West could turn against many brutal and dictatorial regimes, including those it had formerly supported.
